Yoshida Shoin was executed in 1859 at the age of 29, Takasugi Shinsaku died in 1867 at the age of 27, Sakamoto Ryoma was murdered in 1867 at the age of 31, and Okubo Toshimichi was stabbed to death in 1878 at the age of 47, all of which caused Godai Tomoatsu, played by Haruma Miura, to cry a great deal.
So Godai decided to live in a way to fulfill his friend’s wishes.
And now it’s time for us to cry and take over Godai and Miura’s thoughts after the departure of Miura.
This desire is to raise young people to become adults and help them mature as human beings to support the community, so that they can repay the debt of gratitude to their parents and human beings.
It is difficult to be aware of life and death on earth.
A person can only die once.
We must not believe that human’s will and experience are the supreme source of meaning.
In order to realise that desire, Godai had 16 young people study at the University of London in 1865. However, Haruma Miura noticed that Godai realised the mistake, due to his own carelessness, was the first thing Godai should have done before sending the students, was to have made the people of the clan “know the breadth of the earth, and open up the government”.
